2nd visit to Tiverton Parkway on the Bristol to Exeter Line although my previous visit was way back on October 7th 2018. During filming included complying with social distancing rules and wearing face covering for the whole duration of filming. When the line first opened there was a station located to the south at Tiverton Road which opened on May 1st 1844 even though the station was situated near the village of Willand. It was renamed Tiverton Junction on June 12th 1848 when it connected with 2 branch lines firstly one serving the town of Tiverton itself being Tiverton Station and the 2nd branch connecting to the Culm Valley light railway which opened in 1876. However both branches were closed by the Beeching Axe with the Culm valley railway closing in September 1963 to passengers with freight services continuing until 1975 when it closed completely with the similar fate of the Tiverton Branch closing in 1964 although served freight continued to run until 1967. The original station layout which sits on the site of the Tiverton loops dates from 1932 with 2 new platforms however closed on May 11th 1986 when the present Tiverton Parkway station opened although the loop lines are still retained for freight use. Todays Tiverton Parkway station located next to the junction of the M5 Motorway and the A361 Devon Link road to Barnstaple. Surprisingly it's not actually near the town itself of Tiverton in fact it's situated near the town of Sampford Perverell which is 6 miles from Tiverton. Ironically enough the site of Tiverton Parkway replaces the original Sampford Perverell station which was closed by BR in 1984. The present car park was expanded in 2007 by First Great Western which rebranded as Great Western Railway in September 2016 which the decision was taken to expand the car park because it was too small. Facilities at the station is limited and a footbridge which can be accessed from either platform as well to a nearby cycleway. A mixture of services provided by Great Western Railway and CrossCountry Trains with a few occasional passing services throughout the day. At the time of filming due to the reduced capacity because of cov19 meant services were reduced. On the day of filming Great Western Railway services to and from London Paddington were disrupted due to speed restrictions cause by the high temperatures between Castle Cary and Westbury.
