Giornate europee dell’archeologia 21 giugno 2020 - This is the seventh video in a series about the Pietragalla Project made for the European Archaeology Days. The online conference was organised by the two universities leading the project (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and Humboldt Universität zu Berlin) with the support of the Soprintendenza Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio della Basilicata, the city of Pietragalla, the Italian National Research Council (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche), the University of Basilicata and several local partners working in the heritage sector. After a brief introduction by Enzo Rizzo, lecturer at the Università degli studi de Ferrara, Luigi Capozzoli, researcher at the Italian National Research Council (CNR, IREA-IMAA), presents the various methods of geophysical survey applied on the site of Pietragalla (electrical resistivity, magnetometry, ground penetrating radar ) and outlines some of the preliminary results, which include traces of various potential structures, evidence for previous excavations and indications of a possible landslide. He concludes by outlining how these studies can help protect the site and plan future interventions.
