I've followed Jesse since his beginnings in The Time, a funk band Prince formed as a musical outlet for funkier songs he wrote that he felt didn't fit his image and needed a beefier, funky band of 7 to make it happen. Jesse's song, "Can You Help Me" from from his debut is just one example of musical excellence. I love the 12". Unfortunately and frustratingly, Jesse never made a music video for it. So, I grabbed some great footage of Jesse Johnson's Revue on Soul Train and re-edited it to fit the extended audio.
