When in a Postural Restoration Institute defined left AIC pattern for too long, they have to figure out how to do things their body is no longer in proper position to do. When in a left AIC right BC pattern, one movement that gets compromised is your ability to abduct your right leg with your right glute max and glute medius. When those muscles have weakened, you have to find other ways to do it. Quite often people will use their right abdominal wall and right lateral quad to help with "push" to the left and abduction. This ineffective patterned compensatory abduction has to be corrected to restore true frontal plane movement. That means you have to train your right glute and glute medius, but that also means you have to inhibit your right abdominal wall as you abduct your leg. Hey there, my name is Neal Hallinan.
