The Common Emigrant (Catopsilia pomona), also called the Lemon Emigrant, is among the most widespread Pieridae in South Asia. This video documents a large congregation mud-puddling at Margalla Stream (Islamabad Capital Territory, Pakistan) on 6 August 2024 at 10:48 AM. 🔎 Highlights • Pale lemon-green undersides with clear venation (wet-season morph). • Dozens of males gathered on damp soil for mud-puddling. • Comparative reference with the similar Phoebis sennae (Cloudless Sulphur), which does not occur in Pakistan. • Documentation contributes to Pieridae records of the Potohar Plateau and Margalla Hills. 🌿 Scientific Context Mud-puddling is a behavior in which male butterflies sip mineral-rich water from damp soil, obtaining salts (especially sodium) that enhance reproductive fitness. C. pomona is frequently observed in large puddling groups during monsoon months. 📍 Location: Margalla Hills, Islamabad, Pakistan 📅 Date/Time: 6 August 2024, 10:48 AM 📸 Camera: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX10V (18.2 MP) 📌 Music: 🎵 YouTube Audio Gallery ⏱️ Chapters 00:00 — Arrival at Margalla Stream — first glimpse of hundreds of Common Emigrants 00:10 — Groups mud-puddling on the muddy banks 00:22 — Close-up of lemon-green wings and venation 00:28 — Butterflies take flight across the stream 00:33 — Another cluster on the muddy track (closer views) 01:00 — Collective flight and resettling continues 🔍 Enjoyed this glimpse into Pakistan’s butterfly diversity? 🌿 Subscribe to BiodiversiGrapher® – Dr. Shah for authentic, research-based nature footage: butterflies, birds, insects, reptiles, amphibians, and more from the wild frontiers of South Asia. 🎥 New videos every week — field observations, species behavior, and ecological insights. 🌐 Explore extended articles, photo galleries, and spectrogram analyses soon at www.biodiversigrapher.com (under development). 🔔 Don’t forget to Like, Comment, and Share if this helped you discover something new! 👉 Subscribe now: / @biodiversigrapher
