The block of Trumbull Street inn Hartford, Connecticut, between Pratt Street and Church Street, has two large buildings today, one built in 1926 and greatly expanded in the 1980s and the other built in 1984. Over 100 years ago, before either of these structures was built, there were many buildings here that contained great Hartford businesses, like prominent Hartford citizen Edward Mahl's plumbing company, a temporary G. Fox Department Store building (erected in the wake of a devastating fire), and a bar and grill operated by legendary boxer Kid Kaplan. On neighboring Church Street, long-lost businesses included S. Max & Co. furriers.
