Join us as we call about the Board of Prisoners Card Release Act. This important legislation would ensure that U.S. citizens exiting incarceration from Bureau of Prisons facilities receive a valid photo identification card upon release. Lack of ID is another form of voter suppression, and is a huge barrier to so many things besides voting, including employment, health care, housing, and more. During this brief but urgent “Call With Us!” program, we discuss the issues, share talking points, answer questions, and then pause the conversation for participants to go make calls to their Senators and House Reps urging them to provide ID upon release from incarceration as the essential first step toward restarting a life, including participation in American democracy. We then had a brief group debrief to share experiences and next steps.
