The Tata Nexon now gets Dark Edition with its CNG powertrain, starting from Rs 12.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). What is the price of the Tata Nexon? The Tata Nexon is priced between Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). How many variants are there in Tata Nexon? The Tata Nexon 2025 is offered in five broad variants: Smart, Pure Plus, Creative, Creative Plus PS and Fearless. Each of these five gets further sub-variants with suffixes like (O), Plus and S. Some of these variants are also available with the #Dark edition treatment. The Dark edition is a popular cosmetic special edition that Tata also offers on other models in its range, such as the Harrier and Safari. Tata is now offering three CNG variants, Fearless Plus Panoramic Sunroof (PS), Creative Plus Sunroof and Creative Plus PS in Dark edition. What features does the Nexon get? Feature offerings depend on the variant, but some highlights include: LED headlamps with LED daylight running lamps (DRLs), connected LED tail lamps with welcome and goodbye animations, dual 10.25-inch displays (one for the infotainment system and the other for the instrument cluster), connected car technology, auto AC with rear AC vents, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging and ventilated front seats. The Nexon’s voice-activated sunroof is a premium cabin fitment available even from the lower-spec Smart+ S variant. How spacious is it? The Nexon comfortably seats five adults, with enough legroom and headroom for passengers of an average size. It’s the only car in its segment where the front passenger seat is also height adjustable. Now, let's talk about luggage space. With 382 litres of cargo space, the Nexon can handle your everyday essentials and weekend getaways with ease. Given its layout, it will be easier to fit in multiple medium or small suitcases plus one large one, rather than multiple full-sized suitcases. Higher variants also get 60:40 split functionality, in case you have to carry more luggage than people. However, in the Nexon CNG, the boot space is reduced because of the dual-CNG cylinders, which stand at 321 litres (61 litres less). What engine and transmission options are available? You have two engine choices, each paired with multiple transmissions, to suit your driving style and needs: 1.2-litre Turbo-petrol: This engine comes with a 5-speed manual transmission in the base variant, else it gets a 6-speed manual transmission. There are even two types of automatic transmissions on offer here: a 6-speed AMT or a 7-speed DCT, the latter being the only option for the top variant. It has plenty in terms of performance as well, with 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. This engine is also available with the CNG option, where it produces 100 PS and 170 Nm, but is exclusively mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox. 1.5-litre Diesel: The diesel engine is often considered the all-rounder for its balance of power and better fuel efficiency on highways. With the Tata Nexon, it makes 115 PS and 260 Nm and comes paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT. What’s the mileage of Tata Nexon? The claimed mileage of the Nexon varies depending on the engine and transmission you choose. Here's a quick summary: 1.2-litre Turbo-Petrol: 17.44 kmpl (manual), 17.18 kmpl (6AMT), 17.01 kmpl (DCA), 24 km/kg (CNG) 1.5-litre Diesel: 23.23 kmpl (manual), 24.08 kmpl (automatic) Real-world efficiencies will likely be lower than the claimed figures by around 4-5 kmpl for each powertrain, as these numbers were derived from lab tests and not real-world conditions. How safe is the Tata Nexon? The Tata Nexon was crash-tested in 2024 by Bharat NCAP, where it scored a five-star crash safety rating. Safety features vary by variant, but all variants include 6 airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchorage, rear parking sensors, and hill hold assist. The higher spec variants also offer a 360-degree camera with a blind view monitor, front parking sensors and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). How many colour options are there? The Nexon comes with seven colour choices: Grassland Beige, Royal Blue, Daytona Grey, Calgary White, Ocean Blue and Pure Grey. Should you buy the Tata Nexon? The Nexon makes for an excellent family car. It offers ample space, and a comprehensive set of features, including safety features. Rivals like Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO are also competent options you can consider buying for the same price. What are my alternatives? The Tata Nexon competes with other strong contenders like the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. For a similar budget, you could also consider crossover options such as the Maruti Fronx or Toyota Taisor. If you are leaning towards a larger SUV, you can choose the mid-spec variants of larger cars like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate and Taigun .
