A great pod from John Lackey. I grew these this year, too, and they really are a great variety! I love C.pubescens varieties and they are my favourite all-around peppers. Most of them are Landraces from Mexico down to Bolivia. However, this one was found in the town of San Isidro in the Canary Islands. The initial aromas are slightly fruity and aromatic, with some bell pepper undertones, possibly slightly tropical fruity to an extent. Very clean aromas and very appealing, too. As is usual for Rocotos these are very crunchy and juicy. the initial fruitiness and sweetness really reminded me a lot of Pears, with a tough of Apple. There is also a little spiciness to the flavours. C.pubescens are often more simple in their flavour profile, which is one reason they are such great all-rounders. The heat was extremely surprising and hot. The heat was pretty aggressive, without being too prickly. The heat was at least Orange Habnero-levels of heat and quite possibly, Red Habanero levels. It is the hottest C.pubescens I`ve had so far. The heat lasted and lasted, smouldering away on my tongue for a good 5+ minutes. The whole experience was wonderful. Did I say how much I love these things?!?!? How hot was it? Orange to Red Habanero-levels of heat Did it make me ill? Not at all. On my scale an Orange Habanero rates 2/10, so I`ll give this one 2.5/10. Be warned, that is pretty hot!
