Well, the rain finally found me… and let’s just say it came in like a bitter ex with a grudge, making up for those smug first ten days of sunshine I’d been flaunting around Wales and Ireland. But never fear—Scotland is on the horizon, and the weather forecast says I might only be mildly drowned next week. Progress! Now, the Cliffs of Moher… wow. Breathtaking. But of course, Mother Nature wasn’t going to make it easy. I was fully committed to a night in—decked out in my version of pyjamas (a confusing mix of thermal chic meets laundry day desperation)—when my B&B host burst in like a weather prophet: “Quick! The clouds have parted!” So off we flew, me looking like a cross between Sleeping Beauty after three espressos, Mad Max on a budget, and The Man from Snowy River’s lesser-known cousin—The Woman from Slightly Damp Suburbia. But I saw those cliffs in all their glory, windswept and wide-eyed… and yes, still in my pyjama bottoms. Because adventure doesn’t wait, and clearly neither does good lighting. I also visited a tomb in The Burren and met a handy local who gave me the run down and a history lesson !! .. by the time i arrived in Donegal the sun came back as if to teach me a lesson for the day !!! Ireland is not to be messed with ! BTW Poulnabrone Dolmen is one of Ireland’s most iconic archaeological monuments and is the second-most visited location in the Burren, after the Cliffs of Moher.
