"Once Upon A Time" was Donna's retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale. It was a wonderful concept and it took four sides of an LP to make it come real. There were a wide variety of sounds all created electronically enhanced by a full orchestra at times, but there was a whole side that was dedicated to the electronic beats of "I Feel Love" that advanced the story lending an air of alienation and panic. My favorite song was "Rumour Has It", a pounding electronic song that sounded urgent, almost like her heart was beating faster when she heard that the man she had met was looking around for her. "I Love You" was the release it needed to help close the story. The two songs were perfectly sequenced so there was no gap and the entire side of that LP finished off with "Happily Ever After". It was an entirely satisfying listening experience and "Once Upon A Time" became her biggest selling LP yet. Then she had three double LP's hit #1 on the album chart "Live & More" , "Bad Girls" and then "On The Radio" Greatest Hits. She was the first artist to reach this record breaking accomplishment. Not a day goes by that I don't think of Donna. Her music and that heavenly voice defined the era and I have plenty of wonderful memories. It was originally released on Halloween 1977, just in time for the Christmas season gifts.
