Design a SPORTS TEAM BRAND with me - start to finish!

Today I'm creating the next installment of my Dream Client series - a complete brand identity for an imaginary MLS expansion team in Norfolk, Virginia. I'm tackling the entire brand process from strategy and mood-boarding to logo design and patterns and ending with a massive suite of uniforms, advertising, and merchandise. Designing for a sports team is way outside of comfort zone, and it was so much fun to think about how to make a compelling, flexible brand that would bring the community together. As always, I'm putting the full brief below if you want to play along and try your hand at creating this brand, or even better, take this prompt and make a brand for a sports team in your own area. Let me know what you come up with, I'd love to see it! THE BRIEF // Project Overview: The Norfolk City Sirens are an MLS expansion team representing the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Drawing from the region's maritime heritage and naval history, the Sirens embody the call of the sea that has shaped this coastal community for centuries. The team wants to be a unifying force across the entire seven-city area, creating hometown pride and community connection. It needs a modern, exciting brand to stir up enthusiasm inspire the community to embrace the new team. They need a flexible design system that can be applied to new kits every year, along with a wide variety of merch, advertising, and signage to promote the new club and build a fan base.
