Current Abscess Completion: 22/24 Rules: 1. Hard difficulty, New Game. 2. No fusion or using essences to alter the skillsets of demons. 3. The Nahobino may only acquire skills from Proto-fiend essences, and essences used for his resistances may only be Proto-Fiend Essences, purchasable from the Cadaver's Hollow, or be from recruitable demons at or below the Nahobino's level. 4. EXP gain is limited to forced battles, Main Quest completion, and abscesses, minimized as much as possible. Sidequests may be done under specific circumstances. 5. No Balms, Incenses, Sutras, Gospels, use of petrified demon statues, Omagatoki: Luck, or stat-boosting Miracles. Grimoires may only be used under specific circumstances. 6. The Demon Haunt may not be used for stat boosts or items. 7. No use of the Skill Manifestation miracle. 8. Guest demons may not be used when their level exceeds that of the Nahobino. 9. Usage of Taunt skills, barrier skills, and barrier items will be minimized, but may be allowed under specific circumstances. 10. No Knowledge of Tools, Dread, or Enhanced Summon. 11. No using Omagatoki: Strategize, Adversity, or Periapt skills that alter the press turn count. Vasuki is another one of those weird bosses. Just like his CoV equivalent, Beelzebub, his resistances are pretty bad for Magic Nahobino, as he repels Ice and resists Dark, though he is at least neutral to Elec and Light. Ruinous Thunder is decent, but, since I chose to get Impaler's Glory before Abdiel, I'm using Thalassic Calamity here. In terms of his offense, Vasuki is like a mixture of Naamah and Chernobog. He has 4 press turns, and primarily spends them using Toxic Spray, Makajamaon, Slumber Vortex, Sexy Dance, and sometimes basic attacks. If any targets are Charmed or Poisoned, he will use Hysterical Slap or Venom Chaser. Much like Lahmu, he sometimes hits the wrong targets with these skills. While Vasuki is known in Hinduism for his poison, we actually want to use Succubus affinities here to nullify Sleep and Charm, as, unlike Poison and Mirage, these two Ailments can outright prevent you from acting, and we also want to have Me Patra to cure our party, because Amrita Showers are not a purchasable item. Succubus affinities also nullify the Omagatoki Critical Mabufudynes. To deal with the possibility of Poison on Nahobino, I put Abyssal Mask on him, but it can still happen at any time, which will be devastating due to Nahobino lacking Phys resistance to deal with the Venom Chaser. In addition, to deprive Vasuki of press turns as much as possible, we ideally want to have Dakini and Mad Gasser in the party at all times. Dakini nulls Makajamaon, and Mad Gasser's nulling both Sleep and Mirage actually causes Slumber Vortex to be completely nulled. Unlike the multiple Ailment skills like Ancient Curse in SMT4, nulling only one of the Ailments of Slumber Vortex does not null the whole skill, you HAVE to null both. Mad Gasser also nulls Poison, which is great and will also make him indirectly immune to Venom Chaser (Unless Vasuki decides to be stupid and hit the wrong target). One little thing worth noting is that the Magatsuhi turns play out differently depending on whether or not you have Magatsuhi Dispersion. I have been delaying that Miracle as much as possible, so, in this battle, Vasuki just uses a double Mabufudyne. However, if you have Magatsuhi Dispersion and only null the Mabufudyne, he will return to his normal pattern of Ailment spam for his remaining 2 press turns, and Magatsuhi Dispersion cannot be disabled once acquired. You can solve this by purchasing Jack Frost or Forneus from the compendium, and Forneus can also use Marakunda to reduce Vasuki's defense. The last phase of the battle is where things can potentially go downhill, as Vasuki adds Frenzied Chomp to his skillset, which, unlike his other 2 Phys skills, is a skill that causes Ailments rather than exploiting them, and he also gets crits a lot of the time, probably due to his Luck stat. In addition, it is the only way Vasuki can potentially inflict Confusion. Because of how bad things can go with Frenzied Chomp, I put Revival Chant on Nahobino so that I can revive and summon Dakini or Mad Gasser with just one Press Turn. We don't really need that skill slot for anything else in this fight anyways. Maybe Rakunda would have made things faster but I really don't care too much about that here. Would this be possible at level 48 without Impaler's Glory? Probably. I was able to do it at level 49 a couple months ago. However, it would be really long and tiring, as Nahobino only has 10 Fire Gems and Shards, and Ruinous Thunder isn't really that strong at this point in the game. Orthrus is also weak to Poison, making him a juicy target for Venom Chaser, and attackers that aren't named Nahobino are just too weak at this point in the game. So, I'm just not going to bother with trying that.
