Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2017 Infiniti QX50, we're gonna be showing you how to install the CURT trailer hitch receiver. But before we get into that, let's take a minute, check it out and make sure it's going to work for you. So if it we inchesre me and I was wanting to put a hitch on a vehicle like our QX50, first thing that would probably come to my mind is the appearance. How's it gonna look And with this one, you can't really get much better, honestly. For the most part it's gonna be completely hidden. The main body of the hitch will be tucked up in there and you're really just gonna be able to see the receiver tube opening. By putting a hitch back here though, it's definitely going to let you do a few different things. So it seems like most people are using 'em for accessories, particularly a bike rack. So it's given you that attachment point that you need to do something like that. Or even if you plan on doing some really light-duty towing, maybe you got a kayak trailer or something like that, this will allow you to get that done as well. This is gonna be a class one hitch. So it has the inch-and-a-quarter-by-inch-and-a-quarter receiver tube opening, and it's going to use the half-inch size pin and clip. Keep in mind the hitch doesn't come included with one of these, but if you need one, not a huge deal. You can grab one here at etrailer, and a lot of times too, if you end up buying a new accessory, they'll come with one. So something like that for the safety chain openings or a loop style and easy to get to. So you should be able to use pretty much any size hook that your trailer might have on it. When it comes to the weight capacities, the hitch is gonna have 150 pound maximum gross tow weight rating, which will be the amount of weight pushing down on the hitch. So that's good for those one and two bike racks, just to give you an example. And as far as the maximum gross trailer weight rating goes, that's gonna be 1,500 pounds or the amount of weight pulling on the hitch. So that is the weight over your trailer, plus anything you might have in or on it. I do always like to recommend though never a bad idea just to grab your Infinity's owner's manual. That way you can check in there and make sure that your QX50 can handle that much weight safely. We'll go ahead and grab a couple of measurements now and these will help us figure out what type of accessories will work best. So if you go from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube opening, taking into account the ramp set our car is on, that's gonna be about 13 1/2 inches. And so if you can get an accessory that has a rise in the shank, that'd probably be ideal. It'll buy you a little more ground clearance back here. And from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the rear bumper, that's gonna be about five inches. And you can use that to help figure out exactly if any of those folding style accessories you might have can be stored upright without hitting the back of your Infinity. Other than that though, you know the hitch is gonna look good and get the job done. As far as the installation goes, I'm not gonna lie, it's not that it's really complicated, but everything's tight. How the hitch is gonna have to go up kind of with the exhaust and get everything worked in there, you don't have a ton of room to work, there's a lot of little adjustments. Once you get it in place, you kinda have to shift it and just work the hitch into position. So take your time and stay focused. You'll definitely get it. But if you plan on installing this yourself, hang around, we'll go ahead and get started on it now. To begin our installation, we're gonna be underneath the back of our Infinity and we're gonna start over here on the driver's side. There's gonna be a tow hook that we can get removed. Here's the tow hook, there's gonna be four bolts holding it in place, so two on the bottom and then two just like it on the side of our frame. And so these are a 14-millimeter head. So here, my socket, and get 'em pulled out. (drill rattling) (drill rattling) (drill rattling) Get this removed from our vehicle and set off to the side as we won't be reinstalling it. Since we're gonna need to lower our exhaust on some, I wanna wait to help support it. That way we can kinda control how fast and how far we let it c
