One of the parts of the aftermath of war is the rebuilding, some places never came back and had simply been erased. The 1000 year old city of Kustrin was one, Here stood one of the final battles of WW2, holding the last bridges before the Russians assault on Berlin. A desperate 3 month battle took place here, decimated the old Star-fort and castle inside, the entire town was obliterated. I am going to share the events of the battle and take you through the amazing ruins of the city and the fort today, and through the old castle tunnels and basements. And follow the Red Army's advance onto the Seelow heights where we visit Zhukov's observation post for that battle. this is in the truest sense a Lost battlefield.
