Poul will share the company’s philosophy and how its core ideas shaped their software design. He will demonstrate the 4DSOUND Engine, a powerful spatial sound synthesis tool made by and for artists, showing its features through clear, inspiring examples. The Engine lets users play the space like an instrument, offering a new dimension in sound creation and performance. About Poul Holleman is the co-founder and director of 4DSOUND, a studio dedicated to exploring spatial sound as a dynamic artistic medium. He leads the company while actively developing projects that merge sound with disciplines such as light, XR, and live performance. His collaborations include artists like Arca, Nick Verstand, and Alma Quartet. Poul also lectures on spatial audio at the University of the Arts Utrecht and holds a Master’s in Cultural Sociology from the University of Amsterdam. The video was created as part of the RAUM+KLANG Spatial Audio Network Conference, an event for knowledge transfer and networking at the intersection of music technology, audio engineering, XR development, and the cultural industry. Leading experts, pioneers, and visionaries came together to rethink the future of immersive audio technologies and set groundbreaking trends. The conference is partly funded by the Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB) and the City of Leipzig Office for Economic Development.
