I Get By - Jam #36 - [Volca Modular, FM, Bass, Drum, Keys & Sample]

#jamuary video number 11. A really fun improvised jam from the weekend. A friend came round to play some music and the Volca’s were already set up. My friend started by building a steady beat on the sample. Meanwhile, I programmed the drum with some sliced snares and melodic sine noises that would randomly trigger throughout the jam. I showed him how to work the bass which he programmed with a two VCO sequence whilst I programmed a gentle pad into the FM and modular to give us some space to play over. Live, everything except the drums runs through the H9 for some shimmer reverb. My friend solo’s on the keys whilst I play with the beats, trying to control the structure of the jam. It’s not easy crossing arms and trying to coordinate everything on the fly but it’s incredibly fun. If the sound quality was better, I would have kept the video audio as the laughing adds a really wholesome vibe. We’ll be doing this again.
