About Hon. Jacquiline Amongin Hon. Jacquiline Amongin is a Ugandan legislator, development practitioner, and regional integration advocate currently serving as a Member of Parliament in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) for the 2022–2027 term. She is widely recognised for her leadership in climate governance, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), sustainable community development, and women and youth empowerment across East Africa. Hon. Amongin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management from Makerere University. Her professional journey began in civil society, where she served as a Programme Officer with the Global Pan African Movement, focusing on continental development and governance issues. She later transitioned into national politics, representing Ngora District in the Parliament of Uganda, and subsequently served for nearly a decade in the Pan African Parliament. She is the Founder and Executive Director of the Jacquiline Amongin Hope Development Foundation (AJAHFOD), an organisation dedicated to improving livelihoods in rural communities. The foundation champions education, health, sanitation, economic empowerment, and climate resilience initiatives, impacting thousands of families in Eastern Uganda. At EALA, Hon. Amongin is a vocal advocate for environmental protection, youth development, and cross-border collaboration to accelerate regional growth. Her legislative priorities include climate change adaptation, improved WASH services, regional trade facilitation, and strengthening policies that advance equitable development within the East African Community. In addition to her parliamentary roles, she has served in high-level political mobilisation and policy-shaping capacities within the National Resistance Movement (NRM). Her leadership abilities and deep community engagement continue to position her as one of the emerging influential voices in East Africa’s political and development landscape.
