Learning Activities of Daily Living Skills (ADLS) in a home setting

Often in the healthcare field we learn a lot about activities of daily living, or ADLS, and in the special education field, we hear and learn a lot about Daily Living Skills and the two are very similar. Jess has been working on ADLS and Daily Living Skills seemingly forever. Sometimes, people are under the mistaken impression that Jess can't perform certain tasks because no one has taken the time to teach her. Nothing could be further from the truth. Jess has been working on building skills her whole life. She has always made progress and continues to make progress, well into her 30s. Welcome! Our channel is dedicated to showing how we are sharing a joyful life alongside disabilities like autism and blindness, as well as complex medical histories, and mental health challenges. We hope to take some of the mystery out of what it is like when special needs children grow into special needs adults. This life can be good. Beyond challenges and frustrations we find even more joy, entertainment, laughs and good times. Jessica is 35, full of joy and loves to joke around with people. She is autistic and blind, has an anxiety disorder, hydrocephalus, and mild cp. Our favorite quote around here is "Progress never stops" and that has been demonstrated in our videos throughout the years. Jessica's progress in communication, socialization, and skills for independence has been impressive to watch. Who's who: Val is Jessica's mom, baddaddy is Jessica's dad, Hannah is Jessica's sister, and Marlow is Jessica's caregiver as well as Hannah's best friend. Nathan is Val's brother, and Nonnie and Granddad are Val's parents.
