🔗 Our New House Build Series: • New Manufactured Home Build 2025 🏡 Where We Bought Our Home 👉 Clayton Homes of Newport, TN: https://www.claytonhomesnewport.com/ 🏠 The Home We Chose – The Clayton Tahoe: https://www.claytonhomes.com/homes/25... In today’s video I’m walking you through how we upgraded the factory-installed all-in-one switches in our brand new Clayton Homes manufactured home to true residential-grade electrical boxes and switches. If you own a manufactured or mobile home, you’ve probably noticed the builder-grade all-in-one switch and outlet system. They work… but they’re not the same as standard residential electrical setups. In this video I show the complete process of: • Removing manufactured home all-in-one switch units • Installing fiberglass old-work electrical boxes • Identifying hot, neutral, and ground wires • Using pigtails correctly for switches and outlets • Wiring with push-to-connect fittings • Installing a Zigbee smart light switch • Testing and verifying power safely This is the exact process we’re using as we slowly upgrade every switch (and eventually every outlet) in our home. ⚠️ Disclaimer: I am NOT an electrician. This video shows how I completed this project in our home. Always turn off power, verify with a meter, and consult a licensed professional if you are not completely confident working with electricity. TOOLS & MATERIALS • 1-Gang Fiberglass Old Work Electrical Box - Model # R9368=EWK: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Allied-Mould... • 2-Gang Fiberglass Old Work Electrical Box - Model # R9329=EWK: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Allied-Mould... • Enbrighten 43080 Zigbee in-Wall Smart Switch: https://amzn.to/4rQdMFH • IDEAL Push-in Wire Connectors: https://www.lowes.com/pd/IDEAL-In-Sur... & https://www.lowes.com/pd/IDEAL-In-Sur... • Eaton 15-amp Single Pole Rocker Light Switch: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Eaton-Single... • Eaton 15-amp Commercial Duplex Outlet: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Eaton-15A-12... • Klein Tools Screwdriver Set, 1,000 volt Insulated: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Klein-Tools-... • Kobalt 6-inch Electrical Wire Strippers: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-KBLT-... • Klein Tools Non-Contact Voltage and GFCI Test Kit: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Klein-Tools-... Why we’re doing this: • When we chose a manufactured home instead of going modular, we knew we’d be upgrading certain things ourselves. The electrical switches and outlets were one of those trade-offs. For us, upgrading them later made more financial sense than paying the upfront modular premium. If you're considering a manufactured home, already own one, or just want to upgrade builder-grade switches, this video should give you a clear understanding of how it’s done. If you have questions, drop them in the comments and I’ll help where I can (within reason and safety). Thanks for watching and following along as we continue improving our home one project at a time. #ManufacturedHome #MobileHomeUpgrade #DIYElectrical #ClaytonHomes #SmartHomeUpgrade
