. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Marija Konstantinovna Bashkirtseva (French: Marie Bashkirtseff), born November 24, 1858 in Hawrontsy near Poltava, died October 31, 1884 in Paris – was a painter and sculptor of Ukrainian origin. Enthusiast of admitting women to the École des Beaux-Arts, known also for her diary written in French. The writer Guy de Maupassant and Maria Bashkirtseff shared a correspondence and romance, chronicled in her posthumously published memoirs, which revealed the young artist's turbulent life and relationship with Maupassant. This became the basis for the 1935 Austrian-Italian film "Marja Bashkirtseff." The film was known in the USA as "The Affairs of Maupassant". Music to the movie was composed, as it appears from the Polish record – by Paul Abraham. Recorded for Syrena-Electro in Warsaw 1936, the disc presents a vividly played March-Foxtrot – “W Paryżu” (In Paris) with a vocal part by Adam Aston. – Marie Bashkirtseff’s very active life ended very early – at the age of 26. She was buried at the Passy cemetery, Paris. Her family erected there a monumental grave tomb: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fi... * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
