Seligman, Arizona was once a railroad town dating back to 1886, named after a railroad financier, Jesse Seligman. Now known as the Birthplace of Route 66 and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. This is all thanks to Angel Delgadillo and the town's residents, who convinced the State of Arizona to dedicate Route 66 as a historic highway. Seligman was the inspiration for the town of Radiator Springs in Pixar's feature film Cars, and as you stroll along Main Street, you can see why. The Aztec Motel, one of the original motels along this stretch of the famed road, is currently undergoing a facelift and will be open for business in spring 2022. Keeping most existing features and nostalgia, this quaint motel will also offer ghost hunts.
