In this talk that was necessitated by a question related to keeping precepts and the Vinaya (Buddhist Monastic) rules, I discuss the importance of not looking at any aspect of the Dhamma with a rigid approach. This means, to have wisdom be there with whatever we might be engaged in, or holding to as a valuable part of our practice, our life. After all, the dedication even to Vinaya rules or precepts can become (in the absence of wisdom) yet another arena, wherein the defilements can flourish and grow, undetected. This is the danger of wrong views (or views - ditthi), both of which Lord Buddha warns us against, as major deterrents on the Path to Awakening. Here, the question about attachment, even towards the Dhamma is explored, while referring back to the very example of Lord Buddha, in his detachment even towards the Dhamma that He revealed.
