Bennie Krueger's Orchestra - Teasin', Fox-Trot (Carleton, Biese, Walsh) Brunswick 1923 (USA) NOTE: Bennie KRUEGER - American jazz saxophonist and leader of dance bands during the Jazz Age. He was the first saxophonist ever included in an early "jass" band. In 1920, after a successful tour of England, the Original Dixieland Jazz Band was asked to record several albums for Victor Records. However, the company's music manager insisted that a saxophonist be included in the band for a recording session and Bennie Krueger was chosen. After working with ODJB, Krueger formed his own dance band in early 1920s and recorded for Brunswick and Vocalion, becoming one of the most prolific dance orchestras in the US. He recorded both under his own name and many pseudonyms. In the 1930s, he worked in radio and served as music director and conductor of the orchestra of Rudy Vallee and Bob Crosby. He was also a songwriter; among his better-known songs are "Sunday" and "I Don't Know Why." The are slideshow are some photographed scenes from the early years of the crazy 1920s.
