“Lost By The River” is the third single from Singing River’s upcoming EP Shoutin’ Good Time (February 13, 2026). Northern Americana / Roots Rock from Rochester, NY. The title hit songwriter Mikey James “like a flash” in his kitchen in April 2022 as “something that would be fun to write.” Early drafts borrowed directly from Dylan, CCR, and Rawhide until a licensing rep said, ‘Time to set your sights a little lower, buddy.’ James rewrote everything as paraphrased emotional echoes, keeping the Jelly Roll Morton phrasing but shaping the narrative to what felt exciting. Buddy Bolden became Bob Dylan, Judge Fogarty became John Fogerty, Frankie Dusen became Frankie Laine, and the ‘bad air’ turned into ‘good souls’—a playful folk amalgamation.” The band’s trombonist Evan Dobbins helped arrange the loose 1920s style — brass voicing, and early-jazz color — and encouraged the tuba feature, creating a perfect moment for Jeremy Stoner to step forward. During a soundcheck of the song in Wayland, NY this past Summer — a staff member at the venue walked up to the barricade, listened intently, and afterward commented emphatically :“Now that’s the good shit.” The single has already earned early national radio support, including spins from: WART in Monroe, NC; WMVY in Martha's Vineyard, MA;, KOWS 92.5 FM in Occidental, CA; KHUM in Humboldt County, CA; KDUP 88.1 FM live Susanville, CA, and multiple regional Americana programs — with continued momentum into the new EP cycle.
