The Snowdon Mountain Railway/Rheilffordd yr Wyddfa is a 4.7 mile 800mm gauge rack railway in North Wales. It runs from the village of Llanberis to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (aka Snowdon), at 1085m above sea level the highest point in England and Wales. Unusually, this is not a preserved line, but a commercial privately owned and operated line which happens to use steam power. Regular diesel traction was introduced to the line in 1986, & now forms the majority of the motive power on the line. Steam is maintained as a special heritage experience only on summer weekdays. In this video, we join one of these special steam services, & enjoy a ride to the summit with fine clear views! 0:00 Introduction 0:45 Llanberis 3:44 The climb begins 5:24 Waterfall Halt 7:27 Hebron 12:15 Crossing the Llanberis Path 13:50 Halfway 18:20 Rocky Valley 21:15 Clogwyn 25:50 Clogwyn Cloch 30:00 Bwlch Main 32:00 Summit Arrival --- *Remember to like and subscribe to For the Love of Steam* for more steam train, narrow gauge, and model railway videos!
