High-Level Event: Pathways to Advancing E-mobility in Africa

Africa is at a pivotal moment in shaping low-carbon transport systems. With rapid urbanisation and still-low motorisation, electric mobility offers a unique opportunity to leapfrog to cleaner, more resilient development. Through the Rethinking Transport Initiative, GIZ and Agora Verkehrswende have worked with experts across the continent to identify priority actions and emerging opportunities, as more than 15 countries advance e-mobility strategies. This event, which took place on the 3rd December in the GIZ Berlin Representation, highlighted these insights, exploring pathways to scale electric mobility in Africa and the role Europe, and Germany, can play in supporting just and future-oriented transport systems.
