As we begin this review between the XT15 and the XT20 there is a noticeable difference in size. The ad has some dimensions that are just not correct from my perspective. For the XT15 I seen 6.5"D x 7.18"W x 10.6"H, but when I used my ruler a come up with about 6.5”D x6.5”Wx10.5”H this is very close, but on the XT20 measurements I have 7.18"D x 6.5"W x 10.6"H on the ad, and with my ruler I come up with 10.25”Dx7.5”Wx13H” and I don’t even see that as being close, and as you can see there is a big difference. And as you might expect the XT20 has a larger sound stage and will be louder at the same volume from your amplifier. Now they both sound very nice and I enjoy listening to them both, but on my side by side I found the XT15 sounding a little clearer in the high end and the XT20 softer and smoother with more Bass. You may find both of them a little on the muddy side with the bass, but not more than you might expect at this price range, nothing to complain about, I’m just want to mention it for the review. I think the XT15 would be great on your desktop and for a smaller room, and the XT20 may be a bit much for the desktop 2 to 3 feet from your face but would be great on your bookshelf or in a small medium or large room just not extra-large room. They both sound much better with a subwoofer for the low end and you letting the speaker handle the middle and high end sound. And I know that some listeners are pro subwoofer and some people may not be, but I think most bookshelf or desktop speaker’s sound better with a subwoofer then without one, with these Polk Monitors being included. Now after saying all that I can’t say I like one over the other, just for a smaller area the XT15 may be a better fit because you can crank up the sound without it drumming you out the room, and for the larger area the XT20 can really fill up your space with sound. They both look good with or without the Grill covers, I will have some specs in the description please check out the individual reviews, I will have links in the description also.
