It ranks as the fourth-busiest long-distance station for Deutsche Bahn, behind Hamburg, Frankfurt (Main), and Munich, and is part of the highest price category 1 in DB Station&Service. The station serves as a major transfer point with 14 platform tracks, connecting long-distance trains (Intercity-Express, Intercity/EuroCity, ÖBB Nightjet, Flixtrain) and local trains (S-Bahn, regional trains, and regional express). Over 1300 trains stop at the station each day, making it a key hub for travel in and around Berlin. Additionally, the underground station is connected to the U5 line of the U-Bahn. Public transportation options, including metro, night buses, and trams (M5, M8, M10), are also available right outside the station. Designed by architect Meinhard von Gerkan, Berlin Hauptbahnhof opened in 2006, marking the completion of a major reorganization of Berlin’s rail system, including the opening of the North-South Long-Distance Railway Tunnel. This new setup, known as the "mushroom concept," revolutionized rail passenger traffic in the city. ⚠️ Our videos are copyrighted material owned by the channel DaisyRoutes.
