A simple walk from Chit Lom BTS along the skywalk through Central Chidlom Department Store to the basement where I briefly explore the Central Food Hall market. Bangkok is famous for a variety of food options but this type of market is one I was unfamiliar with until I started exploring grocery options. Central Food Hall is a world class supermarket in the basement of Central Chidlom Department Store featuring American, European, Chinese, Japanese and Korean imports as well as local and regional produce and Thai brands. Some items are expensive but there are low cost alternatives as well. Certain items are easily found elsewhere but cost the same here so it is a reasonable option for comprehensive grocery shopping. As a tourist I found it to be an exciting blend of familiar items and unique local flavors. I've been back a few times for things that are difficult to find elsewhere. The smoked salmon section is amazing here! Some of the prepared foods aren't much more than street food prices and is a fun treat.
