Improvised or conceptual, free noise collages, globaltronics, rush and melody: The music of Pablo Gīw is not only difficult to classify into categories and genres, it also no longer matters. Since 2010, the Cologne-based trumpeter and performer has created his own canon with his projects and as soloist: Complexity and minimalism, chopped up, sharp-edged chunks of sound and lyrical excursions, precise rhythms and free interactions combine to create a unique expression. Traces of Persian music are inscribed in his drone music and techno beats weave into his free improvisations. In recent years, he has performed with the singer Rebekka Salomea Ziegler, cellist Mariel Roberts, bassist Farida Amadou and dancer Kelv, among others.
