Venice, Los Angeles - February 15, and 21, 2024: In a coordinated effort, the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, together with Clean Harbors Environmental Inc., conducted a cleanup operation on Westminster Dog Park on Main Street in Venice, Los Angeles, focusing on a homeless encampment. Before the cleanup, the city issued notices to inform residents about the operation and requested the removal of personal belongings from the targeted area, warning that left items would be cleared by city workers. Those living unhoused were given a 15-minute notice by Los Angeles Sanitation to move their belongings ahead of the cleanup. Los Angeles Police Officers were also on-site to ensure the operation proceeded smoothly and safely, contributing to the security and orderliness of the process. The operation involved close collaboration between the Department of Public Works and Clean Harbors Environmental Inc., with personnel wearing protective gear and focusing on the separation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste for effective cleanup.
