Need consistent full AoE damage as Mario and also need to avoid enemy damage? Load up on them items! The strategy for this fight is very straightforward. Go as long as you can without taking damage, and use items to deal damage in return. Triple Dip and the new Item Saver are central focuses to this mindset. Item Saver allows every 3rd item to be used without it actually being consumed. We use this on our Repel Gel so that we can always avoid taking damage, while dealing damage in return. Bomb Fruits are the better item since we can use them with an effectively lower cost thanks to Pity Flower. However, bringing a few Shooting Stars lets us still deal decent damage while not worrying about self-damage at certain points. The partner to use for the most part is Sushie. Her Tidal Wave is the strongest AoE damage from a partner overall, and its higher FP cost when compared to the next highest AoE, Air Raid, is more than made up for with the higher damage. Once Light Watt goes down, we are in a better place to unleash Stellar Nova Time Out. At that point it affects all but Bow and Sushie, and those affected only have a -1 turn modifier. We can also now avoid damage from the aforementioned two as well for a couple turns by using Dizzy Stomp and Dizzy Shell. Light Bow is by far the most threatening enemy in this fight. The Curse badges really ramp up the damage of her Fan Smack due to its multi strike nature. We don't see regular Smack because if she doesn't deal enough damage with it, then she'll never use it again (we avoid it at the start, so that satisfies the condition for this). Funny thing, it's actually quite easy to get through 3x for this fight using this badge and item build. I didn't even use my items fully optimally in this fight and I still got through on 3x. However, 4.5x seems to be out of reach for it. If 4.5x is possible, it would need to approach this fight differently.
