Muscle Contraction: Eccentric, Amortization, Concentric SSC works in 2 ways: 1: Neurophysiologic (Muscle Spindle activation) 2: Mechanical (Tendon stretch/ Series Elastic Components) Stretch Shortening Cycle Training Adaptation: Faster the Countermovement the more contribution from the SSC Too long of ground contact time= SSC dissipates as heat Good ground contact time tends to be less than around 0.25 seconds Extending time longer increases muscle tension closer to peak and may activate GTO Depth Jump height of around 30-32 inches seems to be optimal for most athletes Also, it’s important to consider that Training increases muscle stiffness not elasticity.
