SHAZNAY KICKS OFF FILM CAREER When he scored the famous dramatic last minute goal - with one of his trademark bending free kicks - that secured England's place in the World Cup, David Beckham cemented his status as a national hero. Fittingly, a movie that pays tribute to the beautiful skills of the Manchester United player and England captain, is about to be released. Adding lustre to 'Bend It like Beckham,' is former award winning songwriter and former All Saint Shaznay Lewis in her feature film debut, who stars as the captain of an all-women football team. The award winning singer-songwriter once played for the real life Arsenal women's team, making the British film the perfect vehicle to ease her into acting. 'Bend it like Beckham' is a gentle comedy set in West London and Hamburg, the plot follows two team members, both 18 years old, who have their hearts set on a career in professional football. One girl is Asian one is white, but they have the same problem, major opposition from their parents. Their families want feminine daughters with nice boyfriends and an ambition to get married and cook, not learning to score like England player David Beckham. APTN caught up with the two stars in London, as they filmed a training scene with their on screen captain. Both actresses say they love working with Lewis - even if it means resisting the urge to sing All Saints' hits whenever she's nearby. Real life women's soccer players make up the team's numbers, giving the actresses a run for their money when it comes to portraying shining footie talent.
