Epping Forest is an English Country Dance first published in Playford's Dancing Master of 1670 and adapted by Cecil Sharp in 1922. Found in "The Playford Ball". It is a dance in a 3 couple circle with no progression. It is a USA dance. The tune was published by Playford with the dance. It was performed by Bare Necessities (Earl Gaddis, Mary Lea, Peter Barnes, and Jacqueline Schwab) on the album "At Home". It is used with permission of Country Dance Society, Boston Centre, Inc. https://www.cds-boston.org/ecdc/ This is one of a number of Playford dances where the instructions call for the dancers to kiss — the kiss between acquaintances being more common in those days than it is now. This can lead to difficulties with modern dancers. Sharp solved this problem by omitting the kiss and changing the "honour and kiss" sequence into "set right and honour, set left and honour". On the rare occasions I have been called on to kiss a lady in a dance I usually kiss her hand. A French peck on the cheek might also be acceptable. In dances where the kiss is only with your partner then you can arrange beforehand how to behave. This dance includes a corner kiss as well so two arrangements must be made (both corner and partner remain the same throughout the dance). The animation plays at 111 counts per minute. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color. https://www.upadouble.info/
