The View From The Plow Train On The Naugatuck. On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the Naugatuck Railroad/Railroad Museum Of New England operated a plow train consisting of EMD GP9s NAUG 859 (S) and 686 (N). Due to the recent heavy winter storm, the plow train worked with the Maintenance of Way department to shovel out switches, clear crossings, and ensure that freight can be safely moved in the coming days. This view from EMD GP9 NAUG 686 (née-NW 686) takes us from Highland Junction to the Albert Brothers Siding. The locomotives reversed, and the video picks up from that switch to Milepost 8 in Thomaston, CT. Please note: The plow train stopped and/or reversed several times in order to clear additional switches or track, these scenes are not included.
