An audio and video extract of a quarter peal of Plain Bob Doubles, rung at St Thomas a Becket, Pagham. This was also dedicated to my grandfathers, who passed away quite recently. The bells here were a difficult and rusty sounding peal of bells that are not worth the effort. They do however hum more if you ring them faster and together. Although they aren't the best sounding bells they do grow on you and towards the end I enjoyed the sound of them. The bells here were cast by a mixed bag of founders. The treble and the third were cast by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry six years between them. The two and the four were both cast in 1666 by William III Purdue. The tenor was cast in 1688 by Clement I Tosier and is a listed bell. Altogether they blend well and produce a sound no other ring can produce. Enjoy!
