Arriving the Gates 10/10/2025 The sword was named Zarâk-Thûl, meaning “Oathblade,” not for the dwarves, but for the man who would one day prove himself worthy to wield it. Chapter IV – The Day Evil rose from the North and swept across the land, just as Durin had foreseen. A tear fell from Durin’s eyes. All peoples of the land suffered, many unaware of the cause. Across the realm, many were taken into slavery; others were tortured or slain without mercy. The Seven Houses watched in silence, though inwardly burning with anger, for the one destined to lift the sword had not yet come. In silence, they remembered the days of fellowship. They knew that a man had appeared, asking for the blade. His name was Elandor — Star of the Earth, so it was told. Suspicious, they waited. Meanwhile, a human arrives and asks for Zarâk-Thûl. O children of Aulë, awaken. Open your cords, your magical gates. I, Elandor, Star of the Earth, descendant of a lineage broken by the Enemy, seek Zarâk-Thûl. May my ancestors walk beside me. This is the day of Man — either he rises, or mankind fades. I seek to enter the Hall of Fire, to touch and swear by the Stone and the Blade. O founders of Khazad-dûm, summon the remaining Houses. Let the Seven Patriarchs gather. This is no time for ancient grudges. O master craftsmen, architects of the deep, skilled warriors — unite, and open your gates to me.” The dwarves decide to prepare the ritual. Tharkûn-Dûm — The Oath of Stone and Blade. Chapter V.
