The Participation of Vocational Subject Teachers in Career Guidance," presented by Alison Etches, a PhD researcher at the University of Wolverhampton. Alison has been doing her PhD Research with the School of Education, University of Wolverhampton. The aim is to complete in 2026. The data analysis is still on-going, therefore please contact her to seek prior permission to use any materials or ideas. Contact is A.J.Etches@wlv.ac.uk This seminar will provide an overview of the draft findings from my PhD research project. The research was conducted with the understanding that further insights could be gained into how subject teachers assist their students with university and graduate career-related advice (HEIAG). The study aimed to explore the role of vocational subject teachers (VSTs) of level 3 courses, such as BTECs, as university advisers for their students. Additionally, the research was carried out in three schools that serve neighbourhoods identified by the POLAR measure as having low participation in higher education (LPNs), allowing for an exploration of the findings from the perspective of social justice.
