Description: In this session we solve two Area Moment of Inertia Problems, of an I section and a Hollow Rectangular Section respectively, with the Parallel Axis Theorem. This is done to illustrate the Concept of how we could use the Parallel Axis Theorem to solve Area Moment of Inertia Problems in Engineering Mechanics. We started the session by discussing about the units of Moment of Inertia and a quick recap of the Parallel Axis Theorem. Highlights of the session: Units of Area Moment of Inertia Recap of the Parallel Axis Theorem Using the Parallel Axis Theorem to solve the Area Moment of Inertia of an I section. Using the Parallel Axis Theorem to calculate the Area Moment of Inertia of a Hollow Rectangular section.
