Rejoice In Your Suffering | Mackenzie Voelker | TEDxBaldwinHighSchool

Mackenzie Voelker is a 17 year old senior at Baldwin High School. She is known for her volleyball skills and for always having a smile on her face. Little do people know that through that smile, she suffers from a horribly painful disease called Rheumatoid Arthritis. Her joints hurt everyday and she sometimes asks, “why did God choose me?”. Mackenzie's journey as a volleyball player along with the challenges she has faced has led her to inspire people to make priorities in life that aren’t material things. She hopes to take this opportunity to help others understand more about her and this disease along with learning to see the big picture in life. You never know what life is going to throw at you, the trick is knowing that not everything you want is going to go as planned. When she was 15, life threw a huge wrench in Mackenzie's life that will continue to affect her for years to come. She have Rheumatoid Arthritis, an autoimmune disease that causes ones body to attack itself at the joints. This disease has changed her life and made her realize there is more to life than just a sport.
