This video is titled Bobby Orr and the Big Bad Bruins, a 40th anniversary tribute to the 1970 Stanley Cup winning Boston Bruins done by the New England Sports Network in 2010. The extremely well-done doc is narrated by ex-Bruin Andy Brickley, and has plenty of great highlights, player and coach interviews, and observations from media and other National Hockey League types. (Can't believe this wasn't out there, but when I noticed I went searching for my copy and finally found it.) The 1970 Bruins, led by the wonderkind Orr, widely considered the greatest hockey player ever, won the team's first Stanley Cup since 1941. Orr had a breakout season, leading the league with 120 points, the first defenseman in NHL history to record over 100. Slot man extraordinaire Phil Esposito scored 43 goals and had 99 points, with John McKenzie, John Bucyk, Ken Hodge, and Co., providing ample support. Swashbuckling defensive center Derek Sanderson contributed toughness, sweep checks, and his share of points, and Gerry Cheevers and Ed Johnston were a nonpareil netminding duo. The beloved team took out the Rangers in six, swept the Black Hawks, and annihilated the Blues, with Orr scoring the Cup-winning goal in overtime of Game 4, then flying through the air after being hoisted by St. Louis defenseman Noel Picard. 1969-70 Boston Bruins stats in comments.
