Not everything is recorded (although I do try to record most things) and you will see me referencing manuals and websites for information. Many times, the information is conflicting. I rely heavily on Chilton's manual for this bike. You should rely on such a manual as well. Many times, I go back to inspect and re-inspect. Sometimes I may decide not to replace a seal or bearing that a professional would automatically. For me, the cost to me of the seal or gasket failing is low, as the cost to replace it later is nominal, as the time to replace it and the cost of the part is low, and the risk of perhaps damaging, though unintentional, 50 plus year old parts by wanting to replace a seal or a bearing that is not necessarily a consumable part is high. So, unless this is a pressing need to do so, I will leave the motorcycle as it is. I will attempt to do no harm! If you would like a professional restoration, you should hire a professional restorer. If you want to work on the motorcycle yourself and want to watch someone muddle through a repair, then that is me. I am not a professional restorer! But enjoy!
