Boston's skyline gained a new defining feature as South Station Tower marked its official debut with an unveiling ceremony, introducing the city's latest architectural landmark rising 690 feet above one of its most recognized transit hubs. The impressive 51-story mixed-use development, designed by Pelli Clarke & Partners, transforms the area above Boston's most connected transit hub into a striking addition that redefines the city's skyline. The tower's timeless design creates a new icon situated over the bustling transportation center. The development's residential component occupies the upper 16 floors, featuring 166 condominium homes serviced by The Ritz-Carlton. These luxury residences offer panoramic views of downtown Boston and Boston Harbor, providing owners with a premier residential experience in one of the city's most accessible locations. The tower's commercial space spans 680,000 square feet of office area, featuring primarily column-free floor plates of 29,000 square feet each. The office spaces boast 9-foot, 4-inch finished floor-to-ceiling heights and offer views of downtown Boston and Boston Harbor. Beyond the tower itself, the project includes significant improvements to the transit infrastructure below. The South Station Bus Terminal expansion increases capacity by 50 percent and creates seamless connections between bus, rail and subway services. The development has also transformed South Station's train concourse into what planners describe as an architecturally significant gateway to the city. The tower's location provides unrivaled vehicular and public transit accessibility, positioning it as both a residential and commercial destination above Boston's most active transportation hub.
