The following video is footage from a daytime visit to Building One of the historic and very iconic former 1865-built psychiatric facility, Carrington Hospital. NO FILTERS NO ENHANCEMENTS NO SPOOKY MUSIC NO FANCY EDITING JUST RAW CAMERA FOOTAGE OF A WALK AROUND BUILDING ONE I have compiled this footage to document and journal the current state of dereliction, as of December 2025. The hospital closed in 1992 and was leased soon after by Initech as a prominent learning hub for students. In 2018, Unitech moved out, and the land was purchased by a developer. The plan is to build a few new roads and a series of high-rise apartment blocks. The developers' plan and assurance to the community were to keep building one standing and to restore and preserve it to its former glory. Two wings of this category 1 registered historic building were soon removed to make way for a new roadway. We've been documenting Buildings One and the rest of the Carrington complex now for well over 20 years. Since the developers took over, there has been no progress in preserving the building. Only neglect and the obvious conclusion that the plan is to demolish. regardless of what is being told to the public. THERE IS NO SIGNAGE NO FENCING NO CAMERA OR MOTION SENSOR MONITORING WINDOWS ARE SMASHED OPEN, AND DOORS ARE LEFT OPEN FOR ANYONE TO WALK IN. Inside, the interior is both decaying and vandalised. Walls are covered in graffiti, and anything of value has been stripped, stolen, or destroyed. It is sad to walk the corridors, seeing this once-beautiful piece of much-loved architecture now a rotting corpse of its former self, waiting for the bulldozers to rumble in and prove that money can sometimes speak louder than history. I will continue to visit Carrington and document its now-limited lifespan through my photography. It's an incredible building with a rich and fascinating history/. I haven't given up hope yet.
