The Memling Ensemble Marche Heroique, Op. 27, D.602 (1818 or 1824) Franz Schubert (1797-1828) Arranged for piano quintet by Richard Hofmann, circa 1893 This arrangement incorporates two marches from Schubert's 3 Marches Héroïques, D. 602 (Opus 27 in the Breitkopf und Härtel Complete Works Edition) for Piano four hands. The opening section of the Hofmann arrangement is taken from the third March in D major and is transposed to B-flat major. The Trio section of the Hofmann arrangement is taken from Schubert's first March in G major and transposed to E-flat major. The first public Memling Ensemble concert took place on Wednesday, January 21, 1998 at Steinway Hall, 57th Street, New York City http://www.musiciansclubofny.org/even... The Memling Ensemble has an extensive repertoire to its credit from the Baroque Era to the current day, and has undertaken residencies at Klavierhaus and Beethoven Pianos in New York City and the Ardsley Country Club in Ardsley-on-Hudson, New York. Recent appearances include performances at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY, the New York City Bar Association, The Browning School in New York City, Christ Church in Sparkill, NY, and in Stockbridge, Massachusetts for the New Marlborough Village Association Winter House Concerts series.
