Movement 11 from the 'Vietnam Requiem' - 'The Boat People's Prayer' composed by Graeme Koehne

The 'Vietnam Requiem' premiered in Canberra, Australia on 6 June 2021, 50 years after the Vietnam War. This Movement was performed by Susannah Lawergren soprano, Alice Giles harp, the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, members of the Australian Defence Force bands and guests. Conducted by Christopher Latham OAM. Produced by the Flowers of Peace this concert was intended to demonstrate the cost of war. Christopher Latham, Director states 'to everyone who has known great suffering, this is the music that has been called forth from our souls. Music can be a great balm to soothe after loss, to help the heart to heal. It is my hope that this vast great continent allows us space enough for our hearts to expand, so we can forgive and release these painful wounds that we carry as a nation.’ The 'Boat Peoples’ Prayer' lyrics were written by Christopher Latham in consultation with the Vietnamese Community in Australia.
