🧿A spur of the moment decision led to a 9 night trip to Greece end of October 2023. Flights were just £16 for my son and £19 for myself with EasyJet from Bristol to Crete. We also booked a ferry to Santorini for a few nights which were £13 each from Crete then flights back to Gatwick 5 days later all for the same price as what a 4nt package holiday would have cost us!! Here's what we got up to...🧿 Discover Santorini in October: Day 6 Adventures in Pyrgos & Fira! 🌅🇬🇷 On the 31st of October, we switched up our plans and headed to Fira, Santorini’s vibrant capital, instead of visiting Megalochori. With no car, we relied on the convenient off-season buses (€1.60 each way), making it easy to explore the island. Our morning began with a stroll through the picturesque Pyrgos village, a quieter gem with stunning views and authentic charm. At 1:30 PM, we took the bus to Fira, where we were pleasantly surprised by how peaceful it was compared to the crowded summer months. Walking through the serene streets of Fira allowed us to notice hidden details and take in the breathtaking caldera and volcano views at a slower pace. We revisited the Scirocco apartments area, immersed in the beauty of Santorini’s iconic cliffs. Lunch was a treat at Fira’s “street food square,” where we enjoyed a delicious €4 gyros, followed by some refreshing ice cream. By 5 PM, we were back in Pyrgos, catching the sunset from Franco’s Bar’s rooftop terrace—a magical end to the day. Dinner at Brusco’s featured an amazing €18 meze for two, the perfect way to wrap up our evening. 💙 Highlights: Exploring Pyrgos village and its serene atmosphere. Experiencing Fira without the summer crowds. Affordable and delicious food at "street food square" and Brusco's. Stunning sunset views from Franco's Bar in Pyrgos.
