For the last few days, Direct Rail Services (DRS) have deployed one of their Stadler Eurodual locomotives, 88010 "Aurora" on the Cobelfret Russell Services normally hauled by sibling Class 68 diesel locomotives, headcode 4S45. On Tuesday evening, I nipped up to Crewe to catch 90041 & 90018 on the driver change under the lights of Crewe station as this appeared to be the first time those two "connected" locos were working together since 90018 was named at The Greatest Gathering (TGG). The DRS service with Aurora was just leaving Crewe as my train arrived into the station, having departed ten minutes early, which would have been great to see, but this hobby is often swings and roundabouts. Tonight, Aurora got to pass 90041 and 90018 at Stafford on what was a very ASDA laden MALCOLM liner sat in the Royal Mail siding / Up Down line (UDL), headcode 4S47, with the 88 trainset being a mix of Cobelfret, Russell and Tesco containers. Both 4S45 and 4S47 departed from the same Freight Terminal, that being Daventry IRFT, seen below on several enthusiast channels, thank you to them both for allowing me to share their footage: @destinationtrainsplanes • AERIAL VIEWS of Daventry Railfreight Termi... @DJAUDITS • You Planning On Robbing The Place Are You ... Interestingly at both times of recording, the MALCOLM train was being prepared for service or just arriving into the facility.
